Mouse over for perspective
In the past, we photographers used film cameras. Back then, a process essential to our skills, was mastering post-production in the dark room. However, in today's digital era, our "digital dark room" is the Adobe Photoshop progam. And as we all know, some photographers are more skilled with it than others.
My goal when retouching, is to maintain some sense of photograpic integrity in the images. I personally prefer that people look like "people", instead of the 3D characters you would find in a Nintendo game. Personally, it's important to me to be viewed as a great "photographer", not a graphic artist. However, I also understand that the big fantasy is often what some clients prefer for their products, etc.
